The pursuit of Happiness
What is TRUE happiness? All of our lives we seek to be happy. To be loved by friends and family, to be financially secure. But does doing the will of God really make u happy? Are you fulfilled by knowing that you are doing what it takes to make it through the pearly gates? The things here on earth that we constantly adore or are in search for, that will be quickly left behind at the coming of our Lord, are sometimes a distraction of what real happiness is. The bible says in Proverbs 3:13 "Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding." Here we quickly find where true happiness rests. It is in the truth, in understanding and in gaining a closer relationship with our maker. I honestly believe we were all sent here for a specific purpose, to accomplish a work or task. I feel he has empowered us all with the necessary tools to complete such tasks. I also believe that once we wrap our minds around the thing he has sent us to do, and find and have a true consistent relationship with him that nothing else will be able to compete with the joy and fulfilment of pleasing God. It is in obedience to him, where we find ourselves whole, lacking nothing. You could ask the richest people on earth, without God they are empty, loaded with earthly things and no spiritual substance. What a joy to have both lol. God, wants us to want him more than we want life itself. The chasing of these worldly goods and pleasures are in vain, because they will all be brought to naught. It is the desire to seek after the things of God that gives him pleasures, and he willfully blesses when he searches our heart. I truly believe the scripture that says," Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you." (Matthew 6:33) "These things" are those things we strive to have. The surplus, or over abundance of treasures we desire to indulge in. God is not trying to with hold anything from us, in fact he said it was already ours! We just have to make sure our priorities are in order. I understand that it is there, we find our contentment.
God is a God of order. He has designated a time, season, and purpose for all things. (Eccl.3) As a young adult in Christ, I understand how it can be hard to focus on the things of God, when life's issues are constantly in front of you. Life can sometimes be a distraction. When things go wrong, and thing come up that have to be dealt with, the ministry is usually put on the back burner, instead of in front but God promises to take care of our needs and our business if we take care of HIS. The enemy wants us so focused on what we have to do in this world that we fail to meet the needs of the ministry. He wants to tire us out, look at other people that should be doing it and aren't, and just get plain ole frustrated with the things of God. But God is not the author of confusion, but of peace. (1 Corinthians 14:33) Psalms 144:15 says"...Happy is that people, whose God is the Lord." So in the midst of this troubled life we live, God is our joy and our happiness. Not a man/woman, not a car, not a career, or notoriety, but GOD! He is the reason why we smile, and are happy :-)
