FEAR GOD NOT MAN...

"I ain't scared of nothing"are one of the very ignorant statements that I have made throughout the course of my life. I have found that I am always in need of a big healthy dose of the fear of God. The bible says,"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom..." ( Proverbs 9:10) When I say fear, I don't mean scared of God, although God is dreadful, he wants us to have a reverential fear. A fear of reverence for who he is. We must remember the God that we serve. The all knowing loving God, but also the most powerful, all seeing, righteous judge who shall judge the earth, requires us to have the fear of God. Deuteronomy 5:29 says,"O that there were such a heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!" When you have the fear of God you don't move, act, or think outside the will of God. Having the fear of God will keep us focused on staying on the strait and narrow and away from being distracted. It is His commandment that we fear him and serve him. (Deut.6:13) Which means it is something that we must do. We can't live a life of Christianity, without it. It keeps us mindful of our need for God in our everyday life. The fear of the Lord causes us to set boundaries on ourselves. Good boundaries that is. There is only so far we can go because we know God is always watching, always looking, he is always hearing what is going on. Nothing is hidden from him. All things are naked before him. (Hebrews 4:13)

The bible tells us numerous times not to fear man. Not to be afraid of there faces. Matthew 10:28 says," And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." That scripture plainly, explains itself. We are not to be so moved by people here on earth that it leads us to disobey the laws of God. We should not be driven by the satisfaction or approval of man, whose days are as a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, then vanisheth away. (James 4:14) We can't be ashamed or afraid to be different. To be the outcast. To be talked about, ridiculed, persecuted, back stabbed, and turned on. We can't be so fearful of man and what they say that we loose our focus on God. But we must fear God. We must fear him more than we fear man. We should be thinking about what God thinks of us. Are we pleasing to him? Does he accept us? How can we get closer to him? How can we make him happy? We must be ever mindful of the jealous God we serve, that said," Thou shalt have no other god before me" (Exodus 20:3) We allow man to reign over us when we are affected by there impression of us. The world is not going to like you, everything you say is going to be offensive because they are blind. They don't possess the fear of God, nor do they understand the need to. They are self indulged in what looks like or seems to be the truth, yet are lies and deception. However, they don't have to stay in this state. By simply acknowledging God and turning away from sin, we begin to get understanding through the fear of the Lord.(Prov.1:7) Through the fear of God we are humbled, and recognize God as supreme, in all things and in all ways. He is the highest and the beginning of all things. 2 Cor.7:1 says,"Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God." We are to be holy for God is holy. We are to set ourselves aside for His use. The more we fear him and keep his commandments the closer we get to him. The clearer we hear from him, the easier it is to get through this short lived life, and we find joy in our salvation. So whats the conclusion of the whole matter you say? FEAR THE LORD AND KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS! (Ecc.12:13)

  3. That's right Chrissy,
we must fear God, and isn't it wonderful how God has made Jesus our Lord and enables us to have our minds renewed in Christ Jesus by keeping the commands that He speaks through the daily bread that He gives us, enlightened to us by the Holy Spirit. There is no way that we could come before God without our mediator Jesus, we would be destroyed instantly if it wasn't for the grace of God through the sacrifice for our sins of Jesus, the unblemished lamb. He is the crevice of the rock that we can shelter beneath and the bread of the face that we must eat, the power that enables us to become 'sons of God'. Praise His lovely name.
