WHAT YOU SAY?!!

"Watch yo mouth girl!" words of my mother all through my childhood, and even now as an adult, God my Father has to constantly remind me of whats coming out of my mouth. We have to understand that our words have power! The bible says," Life and death are in the power of the tongue, and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof." (Proverbs 18:21) Our words form the world around us. I must admit I used to dislike people who always saw the positive in everything. I was like ' REALLY!!' lol Like they never had a stormy day or anything negative to say, but what I failed to notice also was that they were people of few problems. As Christians we are not exempt from trials and tribulations but, God is looking to see how we handle those things that come our way. We can call a blessing into existence just by our words. However, blessing and curses can't come out the same mouth. I mean people today have taken it to a whole new level. They cursing like a sailor (literally, every other word) and then turn around and say God bless you. No ma'am! No SIR! This is not pleasing to God at all. We can't continue to curse others and ourselves with our words. One of the commandments is to not take the Lord's name in vain. (Exodus 20:7) One of America's favorite curse word damns the Lord's name and thought ought not to be so, the word says he will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. We are to be careful of what comes out of our mouths, and especially in front of children, who are so receptive to everything around them. We cannot correct them if they hear us doing the same thing. Unfortunately, you can't shield them totally, being that it is all around them, in the schools, as well as in the music. It is the responsibility of parent to teach that child right from wrong. God is holding the parents accountable for how the raise their kids. Lets us be ever mindful.

Now, that we got all that out, lol lets get to the goody goody. See, its not just the refraining from cursing but also what you say about others, or better yet what you don't say. Ephesians 4:29 says,"Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. Yes, that does mean speaking evil of others, not being subject to gossip, and back biting. It so easy to get caught up in drama with people. I mean these days it comes to you, you don't even have to be looking for nothing. People offer each others business to you on a silver platter, waiting for you to have something to say about it so they can chime in. Here's how to deal with those kind of people. Be quiet. Its simple as that. Make them look crazy as they sound by not partaking into the conversation. The bible says," Study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands." (1 Thessalonians 4:11) Sometimes its just good to shut up! Walk away people! lol I'm telling you I learned the hard way, that you don't have to have an opinion on everything. Its not your job to have something to say about everyones situation or be Mr./Mrs. "FIX IT". If we focused on our own problems as much as we focus on everyone elses we would grow allot faster. But, when we speak against someones situation really we speaking against our ownselves. We sow seeds with our words. We have to be very careful. Philippians 1:27 says," Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ". We should be speaking the word only. The bible  says' let your communication be yea (yes)  and nay (no) for whatsoever is more than these cometh of e want tl." (Matthew 5:37) We must understand that everything we say is being recorded, and we will have to give an account for every idle word as well as every idle thought. Phillippians 3:20 says," Our conversation is in heaven". What do you want the Lord hear you saying? Will he hear you talking about your neighbor? Complaining? Gossiping? Or speaking the truth? Proclaiming the word of the Lord. Talking in faith and not in doubt. Speaking in love and not in hate, arrogancy, or vanity. Watch ya mouth!

  1. Great message!! very informative. We most certainly have to watch what we say about ourselves and others. I'm guilty of doing some if not all of the things that you've mentioned, but the beauty of this is, we have the opportunity to correct our shortcomings and get it right with God, and once we do that he will forgive us. I appreciate what you've done and i can't wait to read more.

  2. Thanks for your support Ahmal, yes we do have to be ever mindful, our tongues are small in size but big in the damage it can do, or better yet in the good it could do. God bless you and thank you for joining me on this journey :-)
