The Ultimate Showdown

Have you ever just wanted to slap somebody in the face while they were still talking, or just go into work and tell everybody how you really feel? I'll be the first to raise my hand, and I know some of us will never admit that we don't always like doing the right thing but honestly its in us all. The bible says we were born in sin and shapened in iniquity. ( Psalms 51:5) When Adam fell we all fell. We live our lives in sin from birth, until we have the understanding that we are sinners, and see that Jesus is the only way to be cleansed from such sins, it is at that time we are reborn, or born again. As children it is in our nature to be selfish, and not wanna share our toys, to be jealous when our best friends mingle with others, to rebel from correction and authority, and have temper tantrums when we don't get our way. And as adults, well we act just like children. Our sinful nature is engraved in us and if not taught at an early age right from wrong we automatically go with whats natural to us. WRONG. In the movies, when someone is placed in thought over a decision, sometimes they show an Angel on one shoulder and a devil on the other pleading there case on the issue. I found that, that illustration is not very far from the truth. Your soul and spirit, which came from God, longs to get closer to him. It understands where it came from and desperately wants a relationship with him. It constantly fights and resists the flesh but the ultimate decision is up to that person. God gives us free will. He does not force himself on you or makes us love him. The bible says " Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee" (Jeremiah 31:3) He draws us to him with his goodness and his mercy towards us. Our flesh wants to keep us away from God, causing an internal fight. A constant showdown.

The bible says " Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak".( Matthew 26:41) This passage takes place in the garden of Gethsemane, before Jesus was to be betrayed, he was asking them to pray and they kept falling asleep. It is important that we understand this supernatural war that goes on in the spirit. Every day the devil is in the earth seeking whom he may devour. He knows he doesn't have much time before him and his angels are judged and he wants everyone to go to Hell with him. The bible warns us that the enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy. (John 10:10) We must learn self-control and temperance, basically obtaining all the fruits of the spirit will help us in the fight. Love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance. ( Galatians 5:22) Now the flip side to the fruit of the spirit is the lusts of he flesh. Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, sedition, heresies, envying, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like. These things will hinder us from getting closer to God and his will for our lives. We must humble ourselves, see that we have sinned, repent, and make a decision everyday to serve Christ. Its all about the journey, sometimes we get so ahead of ourselves and then get discouraged when we are not at the place we think we are to be. But I encourage you my sisters and brothers in the faith to just take it one day at a time. Make God a daily part of your life and the struggle will get easier. You will consider HIM in every decision that you make, you will thank HIM fort he little things in life and before you know it the storm is over and you have peace that passeth all understanding. Don't let the devil win in this fight in you. Remember, YOU decide who wins in this ultimate showdown. So, which side are you on?

The fight inside of you all comes down to you making that decision of who will rule over you. God gives us freedom to choose life or death. And he gave us a cheat sheet in Duet. 30:19 he said he has set before us life and death, blessings and cursing, to choose life. Its that simple. Dont scratch that itch you have to punch them out, or to do unjustly een though you may feel you can get away with it. God sees all and he knows all. He is everywhere all the time. I urge you to be the believer thats on the inside of you and let go f all doubts and fears
